Our first meal in Kyoto and it didn’t dissappoint us! It was a tiny place we found in Google Maps. We were starving after our Shinkansen trip from Tokyo and all the trips to our homestay and this place was in walking distance. The inside was very warm and comfortable, felt like you are eating in grandma’s house. The foods were delicious and comforting. We ordered fried chicken set meal, dumpling set meal, and salty egg bowl. We left with full and happy tummy.
Down a little site street is this quiet, slow paced, unassuming family owned restaurant. The owner was watering plants when we walked up and welcomed us in. We ordered the Spicy Chicken Bowl, fried rice, mixed dumplings(We ordered a second because they were so good), And some fried Chicken to end the meal. Would recommend if you're looking for a relaxed pace dining experience.
This restaurant is so cozy! Limited seating inside. The shop is ran by a lady, she serves and cooks the food. The food here is so delicious!!! We ordered a spicy egg bowl and a dumpling set. Highly recommend the spicy egg bowl (not so spicy) there’s so much umami in the sauce. The prices are very reasonable too.
The best spicy chicken we've had in Japan. I recommend you try out all the menu highlights. A small family run restaurant and despite not speaking any English they couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating.
Kyoto on 14th march 2025 we went to this very warm little cosy place to have dinner Mum and son duo were very friendly and food was amazing top notch cooked to our taste as I don’t eat pork she made this fried rice without pork excellent service
We went there for lunch on our temple visiting day in Kyoto. The ambient is small but cozy. It is a family restaurant and the food is really good. The staff is friendly and we had a chance to chat with them while finishing our meal. We did not face any queues, even on a busy Sunday.
We went dining after visiting Kiyomizu-dera, arrived when the local was opening and even if the local got full in a few minutes the staff was very kind and attentive for our order. Food was delicious, it felt like it was a family meal. We got fried chicken and dumplings and they were worth it. Local is very cozy, just two tables for four people and some stands at the counter. Not suggested for big groups.
